Easton Cowan's value rises with Toronto Maple Leafs

Easton Cowan’s value within the Toronto Maple Leafs organization has increased significantly following his performance at the start of the NHL season. While the team reportedly considered involving Cowan in potential offseason trades, his stock rose during training camp and early regular-season games.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman noted that the Maple Leafs' desire to move Cowan has decreased as he has impressed the organization with his offensive prowess. After a blockbuster trade involving Matthew Knies, the team has become more reliant on young, cost-controlled forwards. Cowan, who is 21 and playing on an entry-level contract, has already recorded three points in his first two games, leading the team in scoring.

Head coach Jim Hiller has praised Cowan as a “puck hound” and has opted to maintain the current lineup chemistry rather than promoting him further, as his line with Nick Paul and Colton Sissons has proven effective.
