easyJet crew in Portugal announce strikes for October and December
easyJet cabin crew members in Portugal have approved two strike periods organized by the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC). The first strike is scheduled for October 2 to 6, and the second will take place from December 19 to 23.
The October strike is expected to affect approximately 500 scheduled flights operating from the Porto, Lisbon, and Faro bases. While the exact impact on the December strike is not yet determined, officials expect a significantly higher number of disruptions due to the increased demand during the Christmas holiday season.
The union cited several grievances, including unstable scheduling, discriminatory treatment compared to pilots, pressure to work overtime, and errors in pay slips. Negotiations for a new company agreement have been ongoing since March, but a proposal presented by easyJet in August was rejected by 98% of workers. SNPVAC also highlighted a shortage of cabin crew in Portuguese bases, which has caused operational disruptions for several months.
