easyJet denies boarding to retired couple in Montenegro
A British retired couple, Eileen Snow, 72, and Stephen, 74, were denied boarding on an easyJet flight from Tivat, Montenegro, to London Gatwick on August 29. The couple had been celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a two-week trip through Croatia and Montenegro.
The passengers claim they were prevented from boarding despite having advance reservations. According to Eileen Snow, approximately ten passengers, including three other couples, were left behind. The reason provided was related to the aircraft's weight and fuel levels. The couple noted that many passengers who arrived after them were permitted to board.
Stephen Snow expressed frustration over the incident, citing incompetence and the disruption to their holiday. He also noted the personal impact, as he required daily medication that he was running low on. easyJet later sent an email apologizing and confirming the “denied boarding” for flight EZY8814, though the couple maintains they did not volunteer to stay behind.
