easyJet launches recruitment drive for cabin crew over 50

easyJet has launched a new recruitment drive specifically targeting workers over the age of 50 for cabin crew positions. This initiative follows a 2022 program that has already seen the number of cabin crew members over 50 more than double, while those over 60 have nearly quadrupled.

The airline aims to leverage the life experience and diverse skill sets that older workers bring to customer service. Michael Brown, director of cabin services at easyJet, noted that the company views the role as a viable career pivot for those looking for new opportunities regardless of age.

Individual accounts highlight the benefits of the transition; for example, 64-year-old Francesca Hicks, a former business owner, successfully transitioned into the role after facing ageism in other sectors. She reported high levels of satisfaction after completing her training and working approximately 270 flights. Applications for the new drive are set to open in September across the airline’s UK bases.
