easyJet Secures Seven-Year Maintenance Deal with Bird Aviation in Cyprus

Low‑cost carrier easyJet has entered a long‑term agreement with Cyprus‑based Bird Aviation to provide scheduled heavy‑maintenance services for its Airbus A320 family fleet. The contract covers two maintenance lines at Bird Aviation’s Larnaca facility, runs for an initial seven years with an optional three‑year extension, and aims to cement the island’s role as a regional MRO hub.

The partnership comes as easyJet navigates a challenging financial environment, having reported a 70% drop in pre‑tax profit for the April‑June quarter, largely due to higher fuel costs and volatile energy prices following Middle‑East hostilities. The airline is also facing a takeover battle between US investment firms Castlelake and Apollo Global Management, with regulatory scrutiny possible.

The agreement builds on a longstanding relationship between the two companies and provides a stable framework for maintaining easyJet’s fleet operations across Europe.
