EBANX announces Pakistan expansion and Apple Pay decryption launch
EBANX, a global technology company specializing in emerging market payment services, has announced plans to expand its operations into Pakistan. The company expects to begin operations in the first half of 2027, initially supporting local digital wallets JazzCash and Easypaisa, followed by Raast, Pakistan’s national instant-payment system.
The expansion is driven by strong merchant demand and a mobile-first consumer market where credit card ownership among Gen Z is below 10%. E-commerce spending in Pakistan is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 22% from 2026 through 2030.
Additionally, EBANX is launching a native Apple Pay decryption architecture across Latin America and the Caribbean. This new operating model allows the company to handle token decryption, security keys, and compliance within its own infrastructure, aiming to reduce the technical burden on merchants. Early production data indicated that tokenized-wallet transactions achieved a 94.4% approval rate, which was 11 percentage points higher than non-tokenized card transactions.
