EBANX launches recurring payments via OPay in Nigeria

EBANX has become the first global payments company to implement OPay Direct Debit, a new solution for recurring transactions within the digital wallet of OPay, Nigeria’s leading digital bank. This integration allows global subscription businesses, such as streaming services and SaaS providers, to access OPay’s 40 million monthly active users.

The move addresses a significant gap in the Nigerian market, where credit card ownership among adults is approximately 5%, while mobile phone penetration has reached 84%. Data indicates that 95% of online spending in Nigeria comes from consumers without credit cards, with digital wallets and bank transfers accounting for 65% of the country’s e-commerce volume.
