eBay finalizes $2 billion purchase of fashion resale platform Depop
eBay has completed its acquisition of Depop, the Gen‑Z‑focused fashion resale marketplace, for an estimated $2 billion in cash. The deal includes a base price of $1.71 billion plus adjustments, and was closed after regulatory approval and fulfillment of closing conditions. Depop will continue to operate as a standalone brand while eBay integrates backend capabilities such as shipping, personalization and compliance. CEO Jamie Iannone said the acquisition "strengthens our C2C value proposition" and will expand reach to the next generation of buyers and sellers. Depop, with more than 56 million global users, will retain its distinct community and product experience under eBay ownership.
