Țebea to host National Celebrations honoring Avram Iancu

The National Celebrations in Țebea are scheduled for September 13, 2026, to commemorate the 154th anniversary of the death of Avram Iancu, the leader of the 1848 Transylvanian revolution. The event will begin at 10:30 AM at the Moți Pantheon with the national anthem, a religious service, and a ceremony involving wreath-laying and an honor guard parade.

Following the solemn ceremonies, a folklore festival will take place at 1:30 PM featuring various Romanian folk artists and ensembles, including the “Drăgan Muntean” Professional Folklore Ensemble. The celebrations serve as an annual tradition to honor the legacy of the figure known as “Crăișorul Munților” (The Prince of the Mountains).

Historically, Avram Iancu passed away on September 10, 1872. He is recognized as a symbol of resistance and social justice for the Romanian communities during the revolutionary movements of the mid-19th century.
