National Democratic Congress enters internal election cycle
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is entering a period of internal elections, marked by several high-profile candidacy declarations and new party directives.
Ebenezer Essien has declared his intention to run for Regional Secretary in the Western Region, citing two decades of service. Meanwhile, several candidates have emerged for various youth and constituency roles, including Vitus Akoligeya Apana for Bolgatanga East Constituency Youth Organiser, Steven Nhyira Odarteifio for National Youth Organiser, and Kanayo AbdulGafaru Seidu Dambu for Northern Regional Youth Organiser. Emmanuel Okai Mintah, an aspirant for National Youth Organiser, has offered encouragement to all constituency-level hopefuls.
To maintain order, the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee has issued a directive to all parliamentary hopefuls to immediately cease campaign-related activities, such as tours and donations, before official nominations open. The party warned that premature campaigning could undermine unity and that violators would face disciplinary action. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, an aspiring National Chairman, also addressed the aspirants, emphasizing the importance of the constituency structure as the party’s backbone.
