Ebersberg District municipalities set 2040 climate neutrality targets

The Landkreis Ebersberg has completed a digital energy usage plan (ENP) that maps renewable‑energy potential across its municipalities. Using this tool, each community can model when it will reach climate neutrality and what actions are required. The city of Ebersberg aims to be CO₂‑neutral by 2040, with all municipal properties achieving zero‑emission status by 2030, supported by expanded rooftop PV and district‑heating networks.

Specific initiatives include Kirchseeon’s replacement of street lighting with LEDs and the provision of an e‑cargo bike for municipal staff, while promoting balcony‑mounted PV installations. Bruck focuses on connecting public buildings to a wood‑chip‑fired district‑heating grid, and Glonn has commissioned a new 4‑km heat network supplying 85 properties with 100 % renewable heat, alongside a 100 kW PV system on a new rescue‑service centre that uses a heat pump and stores excess heat for a pool. Zorneding plans future geothermal‑based heating, and new wooden constructions are expected to save roughly 550 t of CO₂.
