Eberswalde Christopher Street Day holds peacefully under police guard despite right‑wing counter‑demo

On June 12‑13 2026, between 1,000 and 2,000 people marched through Eberswalde, Brandenburg, for Christopher Street Day (CSD) under the motto "Viele Farben – ein Wir". The parade began at the train station and proceeded to the city centre.

Police deployed heightened security after a June 2025 attack on a nearby queer gathering, keeping the CSD participants and a right‑wing counter‑assembly apart. The counter‑demo was organised by the neo‑nationalist youth group "Deutsche Patrioten voran" and involved roughly 50 demonstrators.

Authorities reported the events remained peaceful with no violent incidents. Similar right‑wing opposition has been noted at other German CSDs, including Frankfurt (Oder).
