Eboli railway station disruption after conductor falls ill during passenger dispute

Approximately 300 passengers on an Intercity train bound for Taranto experienced significant delays at the Eboli railway station following a dispute between a conductor and a passenger. The incident began when a passenger traveling with two young children contested being unable to access a first-class carriage despite holding a valid ticket.

After a verbal altercation, the conductor halted the train at the Eboli stop and requested municipal police assistance to remove the passenger. However, authorities advised that the passenger could not be removed due to the presence of the two minors, suggesting the conductor file a formal complaint instead. Following this interaction, the conductor reportedly fell ill and was transported to the hospital by emergency services.

Due to Ferrovie dello Stato regulations, the train could not resume its journey without a conductor, prolonging the standstill. Local Civil Protection teams provided water and essential supplies to passengers waiting in the heat, and buses were eventually deployed to transport approximately 200 passengers to Taranto.
