Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru sacks Works Commissioner Stanley Mbam

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has removed the Commissioner for Works, Stanley Mbam, from his position. The dismissal was announced via a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Monday Uzor.

Mbam has faced multiple disciplinary actions under Governor Nwifuru. He was previously suspended in July 2025 for failing to attend a government function and again in February 2026 due to alleged dereliction of duty and slow project delivery. Following the February suspension, Mbam issued a public apology and was subsequently recalled to his post on May 3, 2026.

In the recent directive, the governor ordered Mbam to immediately hand over all government property, including his official vehicle, to the Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government. Responsibilities for the Ministry of Works are to be transferred to the permanent secretary. No specific reason was provided for this latest removal, though the administration stated it remains focused on improving public infrastructure.
