Ebonyi State allocates ₦100 million for youth technical training
The Ebonyi State Government has committed approximately ₦100 million to provide specialized technical training for 100 youths from the state’s 13 local government areas. The program focuses on articulated truck driving and the operation of heavy-duty equipment, including bulldozers, forklifts, tractors, and other agricultural machinery.
Beneficiaries will undergo an intensive four-week training program at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) in Zaria, Kaduna State. The state government will cover all costs related to registration, tuition, accommodation, feeding, and transportation, while also providing stipends to the participants.
Commissioner for Skills Development and Job Creation, Prof. Ajuka Obasi Nwogo, stated that the initiative aims to empower indigenous youths with marketable skills, promote self-reliance, and reduce dependence on external manpower. The training is intended to prepare a skilled local workforce for the state’s proposed cement industry and various ongoing industrial and infrastructure projects.
