EbonyLife Films premieres ‘The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives’ at TIFF
The EbonyLife Films production ‘The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives’ has premiered in the Centrepiece strand at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Produced by Mo Abudu, the film is an adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s 2010 debut novel.
Set within a Yoruba household, the story follows a wealthy patriarch, Baba Segi, and his three wives. The family dynamic shifts following the arrival of his youngest wife, Bolanle, which leads to the revelation of hidden secrets and betrayals. Abudu noted that the film explores the consequences of decisions made by women and aims to provide an authentic cultural portrayal of polygamy.
At the premiere, actress Omowunmi Dada appeared on the red carpet wearing a custom gold and black geometric gown by Somobysomo.
