EbonyLife Place London to open in October 2026

Media entrepreneur Mo Abudu is advancing plans to open EbonyLife Place London, which is expected to launch in October 2026. Located on Wandsworth Road, the venue is positioned as the United Kingdom’s first cinema dedicated exclusively to African and Black films.

The destination is designed as a multi-use cultural hub, featuring a 160-seat auditorium, the Afrobeat Restaurant, the Fèhintì Lounge, and various retail and exhibition spaces. The project aims to provide a dedicated platform for African narratives, combining film, fashion, food, music, and art.

In addition to the London expansion, EbonyLife Films is preparing for the premiere of its adaptation of ‘The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives’ at the Toronto International Film Festival, with a wider cinema release scheduled for December 2026. Other notable African film titles from the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2024, such as ‘Phoenix Fury’ and ‘The Man Died’, are also seeing increased commercial distribution through theatrical releases and streaming services.
