EBR Management fined 750,000 euros for unauthorized luxury car raffle
The Spanish Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda has imposed a 750,000 euro fine on EBR Management SLU for organizing an unauthorized luxury car raffle. The company conducted the giveaway between December 24, 2024, and January 6, 2025, allowing participation from Spanish IP addresses without the mandatory legal authorization required by the Law of Gambling Regulation.
The raffle involved a Tesla Model S Plaid, customized to resemble the character Lightning McQueen, which was owned by the popular Spanish influencer and streamer David Cánovas Martínez, known as TheGrefg. Participants entered the draw by purchasing a digital wallpaper for one euro. Records show there were 376,850 such purchases.
EBR Management SLU appealed the decision, arguing the activity was a promotional combination for advertising purposes rather than a raffle. However, the Ministry rejected these claims and denied requests to reduce the fine, maintaining that the event constituted a very serious administrative infraction. The influencer, TheGrefg, has publicly stated that the fine is directed at the organizing company and not at him personally, noting he was merely contracted for the promotion.
