Ebrar Karakurt misses European Volleyball Championship due to injury
Ebrar Karakurt was unable to participate in the 2026 CEV Women's European Volleyball Championship due to ongoing health issues. According to the Turkey Volleyball Federation, medical examinations revealed bone marrow edema and increased fluid in the sacroiliac joint following pain in her lower back and hip regions.
Her recovery process included rest, physiotherapy, and controlled field training. While improvements were noted, medical teams from both the national team and her club, Eczacıbaşı, determined that she had not yet reached full readiness for safe competition. Her absence was strictly due to medical necessity rather than technical or disciplinary decisions.
Despite the absence of the star player, the Turkish National Women's Volleyball Team reached the final of the tournament. The team secured victories against Azerbaijan, Germany, and Serbia before defeating Italy 3-2 in the final held in Istanbul to claim the European championship title.
