EBRD launches SME support package in Benin
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has launched a comprehensive support package for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Benin. The initiative aims to strengthen private-sector-led growth by providing advisory and financing solutions to help businesses become more competitive, resilient, and investment-ready.
To mark the launch, the EBRD held an event in Cotonou with over 100 representatives from Benin’s private-sector ecosystem, including commercial banks, business associations, chambers of commerce, and public agencies. The advisory programs are designed to connect local SMEs with international expertise to address business challenges and pursue growth.
The package also focuses on the Bank’s priorities of inclusion, digitalization, and the green transition. This includes supporting women- and youth-led businesses, assisting with the adoption of digital technologies, and helping companies implement more energy-efficient and greener business models. Additionally, companies can access the Blue Ribbon program for high-potential firms and the Star Venture program for innovative start-ups.
