Ecatepec authorities dismantle extortion and drug trafficking ring

Authorities in Ecatepec, Mexico, have dismantled an extortion and drug micro-trafficking network operating within and around the Central de Abasto. The investigation revealed that the criminal group utilized organizations with a union facade, specifically the Unión de Sindicatos y Organizaciones Nacionales (USON) and COTRAMEX, to carry out illegal activities. Members of the administration council of the Central de Abasto Ecatepec were also implicated.

Ten individuals have been identified for prosecution, including Jorge Antonio “N”, alias “Coronel”, a leader of USON. Law enforcement seized six properties linked to “Coronel,” including a law firm used to facilitate property dispossession, a ranch in Axapusco, a party hall, and a basic education school named “Coronel School Kids.” Additionally, authorities seized 20 vehicles and various assets, including livestock and agricultural machinery.
