Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announces flood prevention works
Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier has highlighted infrastructure projects aimed at protecting communities from flooding in the Pantepec River region of Puebla. Following severe flooding in October 2025 that destroyed streets and homes, the government is coordinating with the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) to implement preventive measures.
Key works include the construction of a safety embankment, the installation of gabion walls, and the reinforcement of bridges to safeguard lives and property. The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure the continuity of daily activities and prevent local communities from becoming isolated during emergencies.
Additionally, the governor announced support for the agricultural sector through the Fortalecimiento al Campo Poblano program. This includes investments in rural infrastructure, such as harvest roads, and the upcoming launch of a Transformation and Innovation Center in Francisco Z. Mena to process regional lemon production.
