Ecatepec’s San Cristóbal Festival Turns Alcohol‑Free, Family‑Friendly

The municipal government of Ecatepec, led by Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss, has transformed the annual San Cristóbal patron saint celebration into a family‑oriented, alcohol‑free fair. Starting July 15, the event offers religious ceremonies, a double‑deck carousel, other amusement rides, folk dances, choral performances, and concerts, all under a special security operation that has reported no incidents.

Thousands of residents and visitors from neighboring municipalities and Mexico City attended the canonisation of Monseñor José Guadalupe Torres Campos as the third bishop of the Ecatepec Diocese on July 22, followed by a night‑time fireworks and pyrotechnic show on July 25. The municipal security directorate has maintained a “saldo blanco” throughout the festival, which runs through August 2.
