Echo and the Bunnymen announce new album ‘Apples For Isaac’

Echo and the Bunnymen have released a new single, ‘The Light That Surrounds You’, ahead of their upcoming studio album, ‘Apples For Isaac’. This marks the band’s first album of original material in 12 years, following their 2014 release ‘Meteorites’. The album is scheduled for release on September 18.

The new work features contributions from the late Clem Burke, former drummer for Blondie, who performed on 10 of the 11 tracks. Vocalist Ian McCulloch noted that Burke was an essential part of the production process before his passing. The album was primarily recorded at Doghouse Studio near Henley following the pandemic.

Musically, the band aims to blend post-punk tension with psychedelia. McCulloch described the new material as some of their most complete work to date, reflecting influences from artists such as David Bowie and Lou Reed. The tracklist includes ‘Brussels Is Haunted’ and ‘The Unstoppable Force’.
