ECINET system designed to centralize BJP HQ changes, alleges Jairam Ramesh
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has alleged that the Election Commission of India's (ECI) ECINET system was designed to centralize the addition and deletion of voter records at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in New Delhi.
Ramesh stated that a security researcher identified several flaws in the ECINET system on July 8, 2026, but the ECI did not acknowledge one of these concerns until October 6, 2026. He further challenged the ECI's assertion that the system was developed in strict accordance with Indian law and the Constitution, calling such claims a 'lie.'
The controversy follows the ECI's decision to appoint a committee to review ECINET for legal compliance.
