Eclipse Foundation Executive Director to retire in 2027

The Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation has announced plans to retire in 2027. The decision follows 22 years of leadership, during which the organization expanded from a developer tools ecosystem into a broader community covering enterprise Java, artificial intelligence, software-defined vehicles, and embedded systems.

The transition timing will be determined by the Board of Directors, which has been involved in annual transition planning for the past five years. The Board will lead the selection process for a successor. The outgoing director noted that the foundation is currently in a strong position regarding its financial health, size, and industry relevance.
