Eco-friendly tips for cleaning stainless steel hoods and oven plates

White vinegar, baking soda and lemon are recommended for cleaning stainless‑steel kitchen hoods. Daily use of abrasive sponges or chlorine‑based products should be avoided because they can scratch and corrode the metal. Metal filters should be washed monthly in a dishwasher or soaked to maintain suction and prevent fire hazards. Modern commercial degreasers now contain lower VOCs, but homemade mixtures rival their performance for routine maintenance.

For oven plates, a method shared by cleaning influencer Marouane Lebbad uses black soap, a stone of clay and triple‑zero steel wool. The process involves wiping the plate with black‑soap‑soaked sponge, applying clay to the steel wool and scrubbing vigorously before rinsing with warm water. Regular cleaning reduces health risks from carbonized residues that can release carcinogenic fumes during cooking.

Both approaches emphasize non‑toxic, readily available ingredients and simple steps to keep kitchen appliances safe and sparkling.
