Eco Invest Brasil approves R$ 49.95 billion for green investments

The fifth Eco Invest Brasil auction has approved R$ 49.95 billion in proposals for green investments aimed at innovation and ecological transformation. The auction, overseen by the Executive Committee representing the Ministries of Finance and Environment and Climate Change, saw a total demand of R$ 181.3 billion from six participating financial institutions.

Four banks were selected to structure funds and operations across strategic sectors. Bradesco will manage R$ 28.5 billion focused on mineral waste circularity, green fertilizers, and green chemistry. Itaú will direct R$ 9.75 billion toward automation and artificial intelligence. Santander is tasked with R$ 6.5 billion for critical minerals, batteries, and electric mobility, while HSBC will handle R$ 5.2 billion for advanced green fuels, biogas, and biomethane.

The program utilizes a catalytic public capital model, where R$ 13.2 billion in public funds is expected to leverage private resources at a ratio of 3.8 to 1. Beyond direct investment, banks are required to allocate at least R$ 250 million in the first year toward applied research and technological entrepreneurship to strengthen the link between industry and academia.
