Eco Wave Power advances 1 MW project in Porto as breakwater repairs begin
Rehabilitation works have commenced at the Barra do Douro breakwater in Porto, Portugal, marking a significant step for Eco Wave Power’s 1 MW wave energy project. The repairs, managed by the port authority APDL, follow storm damage to the coastal infrastructure and are essential for the company to begin equipment installation.
Eco Wave Power CEO Inna Braverman is scheduled to visit Porto in mid-August to meet with APDL and various Portuguese subcontractors. These discussions will focus on the breakwater rehabilitation timeline, site access, and technical execution involving civil engineering, steel fabrication, and hydraulic systems.
To ensure the project remains on schedule, APDL has agreed to provide a formal letter of support for Eco Wave Power’s request to extend its grid-connection deadline. This extension aims to align the regulatory timetable with the completion of the infrastructure repairs, facilitating the company’s transition from pilot-scale testing to commercial-scale deployment.
