Ecobank and Airtel expand digital education initiatives in Africa
Major African corporations are expanding digital education initiatives through corporate social responsibility programs.
In Togo, Ecobank marked the conclusion of its 40th anniversary with the ‘Ecobank Day 2026’ event. The institution donated laptops and internet connection kits to 80 high-achieving high school graduates in the Grand Lomé area and 20 top students from the Lycée d’Ablogamé. The initiative is part of a three-year campaign titled ‘Transforming Africa through Education,’ focusing on digital skills, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Airtel Congo RDC SA inaugurated its first digital learning center in Kinshasa at the Lycée Sacré-Coeur. Part of the ‘School Adoption’ program, the center provides modern computer equipment and internet connectivity to enhance pedagogical practices. The project includes technical support and training for both students and teachers to foster digital literacy within the Congolese educational system.
