EcoFlow recalls RIVER Pro portable power stations due to fire risk

EcoFlow Technology Japan has announced a voluntary recall of its RIVER Pro portable power station and its dedicated extra battery, both of which ceased production in 2023. The recall follows reports of rare smoke and fire incidents linked to long-term use and battery degradation.

While the company released a firmware update in February 2026 to mitigate these risks, reports of smoke and fire have continued among users who had not applied the update. To ensure user safety and prevent recurrence, the company is implementing a compensation program. Users who return a RIVER Pro unit will receive a 40,000 yen gift card valid at the EcoFlow official store, while those returning the extra battery will receive a 10,000 yen gift card.

An online application form for the recall and exchange program was established on the company's official website starting September 24, 2026.
