Ecological home built with straw and clay near Karlštejn
A young couple has completed the self-built construction of an ecological home near Karlštejn using natural materials such as straw, clay, and wood. The project was carried out under the guidance of architects from the Divoko studio, specifically Pavel Uličný, and with assistance from the StrohNatur group.
The house was designed to integrate into the existing landscape, preserving features like an old apple tree. The owners, Jitka and Jiří, sought to move from Prague to a natural setting, prioritizing a site with mature trees and proximity to the city. The construction utilized straw bales and clay, which architects suggest are becoming a standard for sustainable, accessible ecological housing.
