Ecologistes en Acció opposes Alió and Vila-rodona industrial project
Ecologistes en Acció has filed formal objections against a proposed industrial macroproject in the Alió and Vila-rodona areas of Alt Camp. The Urbanistic Director Plan (PDU) aims to transform approximately 145 hectares of agricultural and natural land into industrial soil, specifically designed for large-scale logistics and industrial companies.
The environmental group argues that the project is disproportionate and lacks sufficient justification regarding economic necessity. A primary concern raised is the absence of a completed annual birdlife study, which the group claims is essential for determining the impact on local species before any final approval is granted.
Furthermore, the objections highlight significant environmental and heritage risks, including the fragmentation of the agricultural landscape, threats to ecological connectivity, and potential damage to historical sites such as the Roman aqueduct of Gaià and dry stone heritage. Documentation indicates that approximately 78 hectares of external environmental compensation would be required to mitigate the impact, which activists suggest underscores the scale of the potential damage.
