Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts major regional trade fairs and attracts foreign investment

Various economic fairs and industrial developments are shaping the regional business landscape in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Balkans. At the 30th International General BH Fair (ZEPS 2026), significant progress has been made in attracting foreign capital. Specifically, Austrian companies have agreed to visit Cazin on September 24 and 25 to evaluate locations for new investments in the metal, wood, and IT sectors, following cooperation agreements involving the ViennaLink Business Agency.

Other regional events include the EXPO Prijedor 2026, which gathered approximately 50 exhibitors from across the Balkans focusing on communal equipment and industry, and the First Balkan Shield 2026 in Sarajevo, an international defense industry fair. In Sarajevo, officials noted that revenues for six key defense companies in the Federation of BiH rose from 270 million KM in 2022 to 554 million KM in 2025.

Additionally, the Zenica-Doboj Canton has allocated 3.6 million KM to support the competitiveness of 162 enterprises. In Serbia, the upcoming 'Produced in Serbia' event at the White Palace aims to connect over 300 FMCG industry leaders, while Slovenia has officially signed a contract to participate in the Expo 2027 exhibition in Belgrade, strengthening regional economic ties.
