Economic and Organised Crime Office inaugurates new audit committee

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has inaugurated a new audit committee designed to enhance internal controls, risk management, and financial oversight of its operations. The committee was officially inaugurated on August 10, 2026, by Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, the Acting Deputy Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), representing Acting Director-General Conrad Z. Dumbah.

During the inauguration, Aborbi-Ayitey emphasized that the committee’s mandate is legally backed and urged members to maintain strict confidentiality, provide timely reports, and ensure the implementation of audit recommendations. He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the committee and EOCO’s internal audit unit to address systemic weaknesses.

EOCO Executive Director Raymond Archer expressed support for the new members while cautioning that unresolved audit infractions could jeopardize the institution’s credibility. Nathan Yankey, a representative from the IAA, was elected as the Chairperson of the committee. Yankey pledged to focus on resolving outstanding audit issues and strengthening the organization’s overall risk management systems.
