Economic and security challenges reported in Ciudad Victoria
In Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, local authorities and business leaders are addressing distinct regional issues regarding security and economic growth.
José Luis Loperena González, coordinator of the Security and Justice Table of Victoria, stated that a lack of formal complaints from citizens and businesses is hindering efforts to combat robberies. While authorities are aware of recent assaults through informal communication, Loperena González noted that without formal legal filings, law enforcement has limited capacity to pursue suspects or provide sustained follow-up. He described the situation as a break in the communication chain between society and the government.
On the economic front, Federico González Sánchez, president of Canaco Victoria, announced that the upcoming Buen Fin sales event is projected to generate 772 million pesos. The campaign, running from November 13 to 17, involves over 400 participating businesses. This represents an estimated 7.3 percent increase over the 720 million pesos recorded in the previous year. Expected high-demand sectors include fashion, electronics, and personal care.
