Economic disparities emerge in Spanish municipal income and inheritance taxes

Recent data highlights significant economic variations across Spanish municipalities regarding income levels and taxation. In the province of Soria, income disparities are stark; Sotillo del Rincón leads with an average annual income per person of 21,109 euros, which is 32.4% above the national average. In contrast, Espejón records the lowest average income in the analyzed area at 11,780 euros per person, a figure 26.1% below the national average.

Taxation differences also appear prominent in Extremadura regarding real estate inheritance. A study comparing municipal taxes shows that inheriting a property in Cáceres can cost approximately 4,800 euros due to local ordinances. Meanwhile, in Badajoz, the same inheritance scenario would cost only 205.92 euros. This discrepancy is largely attributed to municipal tax relief, as Badajoz offers a 95% reduction for the specific case analyzed, whereas Cáceres applies a higher tax rate with fewer deductions.
