Economic growth and employment trends rise in Chihuahua and Colombian cities

Chihuahua Capital, Mexico, has established itself as a significant hub for investment and employment. Between 2021 and 2026, the city attracted $2.224 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), resulting in over 43 new business investments and expansions. This growth has generated approximately 21 formal jobs per day, contributing to an 11.8% increase in total employment over the five-year period. The city's economic structure is supported by 13 strategic clusters, including aerospace, automotive, and medical sectors, alongside 12 operational industrial parks.

In Colombia, urban labor markets are showing positive trends. According to Asocapitales and DANE data, the national unemployment rate fell to 8.1% in July 2026, down from 8.8% in July 2025. Fourteen of the 23 metropolitan areas analyzed reported lower unemployment rates compared to the previous year. Major cities such as Medellín (7.0%), Bucaramanga (7.2%), Pereira (7.5%), and Bogotá (8.0%) recorded unemployment rates below the national average.
