Economic relief requested for laid-off workers and struggling SMEs

In Argentina, provincial senator Martín Oliva has requested that the Entre Ríos Executive branch implement relief measures for 255 workers dismissed from the company Granja Tres Arroyos (GTA) in Concepción del Uruguay. Proposed assistance includes tax deferrals, exemptions, or special payment plans for provincial taxes such as real estate and automotive taxes. Additionally, the proposal suggests that the utility provider Enersa evaluate mechanisms to prevent electricity cuts and offer tariff relief, alongside social assistance like food modules and subsistence aid through the Ministry of Human Development.

In Chile, the La Serena Chamber of Commerce and Tourism is demanding urgent liquidity to prevent small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from going bankrupt following an emergency in the Coquimbo Region. President Carlos Orrego Torrico stated that a lack of commercial activity for over two weeks has caused a critical liquidity crisis. The Chamber is proposing a 20% subsidy on payroll through Sence to maintain employment and requesting immediate tax relief, such as a suspension of monthly VAT payments, to alleviate the burden of fixed costs.
