Economic Sentiment Index shows persistent negativity in Romania
The second edition of the Newmoney.ro – INSCOP Economic Sentiment Index (ISE) was launched at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. The research, conducted by INSCOP Research in partnership with Informat.ro and the Strategic Thinking Group, utilizes a scale from −100 to +100 to measure economic perception.
According to Remus Ștefureac, director of INSCOP Research, the index showed a marginal evolution from −39.5 to −38.1 points. This indicates that while there is a very slight improvement, economic sentiment remains stuck in negative territory. The data suggests a period of “normalization of economic uncertainty,” where households are adapting their decisions to the assumption that difficulties will persist rather than expecting a rapid recovery.
While income expectations show a slight decrease in pessimism compared to June, perceived inflation remains a primary driver of economic pessimism among Romanians.
