Economic shifts: AI for Mexico and major oil pact for Venezuela
Experts at the ICEA Academic Colloquium in Mexico have identified Artificial Intelligence, data analysis, and geopolitical positioning as essential drivers for Mexico to lead in global trade and compete with powers like the United States and China.
In Venezuela, a major oil agreement with the United States aims to exploit 65 billion barrels in the Orinoco Belt over the next 25 years. Oswaldo Felizzola, coordinator of the CIEA-IESA, noted that while the pact seeks to revitalize the industry through private investment, the first barrels are expected to be produced between 2027 and 2028. The deal is viewed as a significant opportunity to monetize national hydrocarbon potential following years of operational crises at PDVSA.
