Economic ties between Europe and Latin America expand through trade and talent
The economic relationship between Europe and Latin America is entering a new phase characterized by increased investment and the movement of human capital. While Spain remains a major investor in Latin America, over 600 Latin American companies have established a presence in Spain, generating approximately 44,000 direct jobs.
This growing connectivity is supported by several key frameworks, including the provisional application of the EU-Mercosur interim trade agreement involving Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Additionally, the modernization of the Global Agreement between the EU and Mexico is progressing through ratification processes. The EU-Latin America and Caribbean Global Gateway strategy further aims to foster investment in digital transformation, green transition, and human development.
