Economic updates: Senegal revenue grows as Tunisia reserves decline

In Senegal, budgetary resources reached 2,617.8 billion FCFA by the end of June 2026, representing a 17.9% increase compared to the previous year. According to the Direction des prévisions et des études économiques (Dpee), this growth was driven by a significant rise in tax revenue, which totaled 2,479.0 billion FCFA. Key contributors included corporate income tax, taxes on goods and services, and international trade taxes. However, the Petroleum Product Import Security Fund (Fsipp) saw a decrease of 25.4%.

In Tunisia, foreign exchange reserves fell to 23,467 million dinars as of October 1, 2026, providing 92 days of import coverage. This represents a decline of approximately 2.1 billion dinars since early September, a drop of nearly 8% in less than a month. While the reserves remain above the 90-day safety threshold, the margin has narrowed significantly.

Additionally, Tunisia’s average money market rate (TMM) remained stable at 7% in September 2026, matching the central bank's key interest rate. This marks the second consecutive month of stability for the TMM, reflecting consistent liquidity conditions in the monetary market.
