Economist Gonzalo Bernardos criticizes housing discourse

Economist Gonzalo Bernardos has criticized the perceived double standards in political discourse regarding housing and real estate. He specifically targeted Montse Mínguez, the PSOE spokesperson in Congress, questioning her characterization of certain companies as ‘vulture funds’ while her partner manages a portfolio of more than 30 rental properties.

Bernardos argued that the term ‘vulture fund’ is often used imprecisely in the housing debate. He noted that while the term is applied to firms that purchase distressed assets for profit, there is an inconsistency in how large investors are treated compared to individual landlords in political rhetoric.
