UASD honors Dominican student movement leaders

The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), through its Faculty of Juridical and Political Sciences, held a ceremony to recognize former presidents and general secretaries of the Dominican Students' Federation (FED). The event, led by Rector Jorge Asjana David, aimed to preserve the historical memory of student leadership and its role in fostering democracy within the institution.

Recognitions were presented to several living former leaders, including Robert Polanco, the current Director General of Propeep and former FED president, as well as Guarionex Guaroa Ubiñas, Felvio Rodríguez, and others. The university also issued posthumous honors to historical figures such as Andújar Domínguez, Amin Abel Hasbún, and Hatuey de Camps.

Rector Asjana David emphasized that the democratic atmosphere currently experienced at the university is a direct result of the student movement's efforts to challenge previous regimes. The faculty also expressed intentions to create a museum dedicated to the leaders of the FED.
