Economy Minister Espinoza faces scrutiny over Audi purchase

Bolivian Economy Minister José Gabriel Espinoza is facing scrutiny following contradictory statements regarding the purchase of an Audi Q4 e-tron. Controversy arose when a transfer document for the vehicle listed a value of Bs50,000, while Espinoza later claimed the actual price was Bs350,000. The Minister has provided varying explanations for the discrepancy, initially blaming a facilitator and later a notary, while also offering inconsistent accounts regarding the financing of the vehicle.

The Ministry of Economy has announced an investigation into RED DTV regarding a Bs3 million payment to the State before any disbursements are authorized. This move aims to ensure the legality and traceability of public resources.

Diego Ávila, President of the Senate, has distanced himself from the controversy, stating that while he does not know the details of the case, all public officials are legally obligated to account for their assets and submit accurate sworn declarations to the Comptroller General of the State.
