Ecopetrol increases fuel production by 5.9% in first half of 2026
Ecopetrol reported a 5.9% increase in total refining load during the first half of 2026, averaging 428,000 barrels per day. This growth represents an additional 24,000 barrels per day compared to the same period in 2025.
The increase was driven by the Barrancabermeja and Cartagena refineries, which strengthened the supply of fuels and petrochemicals. Notable production gains include a 150% surge in extra gasoline, reaching an average of 3,620 barrels per day. Diesel production rose by 11.2% to 140,810 barrels per day, while aviation fuel (Jet A1) increased by 12.7% to 38,730 barrels per day.
Ecopetrol attributed these results to raw material exchanges between refineries, the operation of a hydroisomerization plant, and maximized load in the Barrancabermeja alkylation plant. Additionally, the gross refining margin for diesel and aviation fuel reached $23.6 per barrel, doubling the margin reported in the first half of 2025.
