Ecotourism festivals launch in Spain's Sierra de Aracena and Colombia's Chingaza
In the Spanish town of Aracena, the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche opened to ecotourism with the ‘Naturaleza Sin Fronteras’ festival. The event, attended by regional tourism officials and local business leaders, aims to make the area a national reference for sustainable travel. Over a week it offers technical sessions on digital tourism, workshops for local operators, guided visits to natural and cultural sites such as the Gruta de las Maravillas, and activities for the public that highlight hiking, gastronomy and heritage.
In Colombia, the inaugural ‘Chingaza Fest’ is set for 4‑5 July in Monterredondo, linking mountain trekking with environmental education in the Chingaza páramo. Participants can choose routes of 8‑42 km, encounter pedagogic stations run by park rangers, and contribute to citizen‑science monitoring. The festival also involves local families, guides and tourism providers, featuring a market and cultural displays to promote the region’s social and ecological values.
