Ecovado and Alfa Laval launch avocado oil plant in South Africa

Ecovado and Alfa Laval have launched a new avocado oil processing plant in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Located in the Vhembe District, the facility utilizes a complete Alfa Laval processing line to convert locally grown avocados into high-quality oil, the majority of which is intended for export.

Founded by entrepreneur Hulisani Mudau, Ecovado aims to stimulate regional economic development through job creation and sustainable agricultural practices. To support the long-term supply chain, Alfa Laval has donated funds to provide avocado seedlings to small-scale farmers in surrounding communities, creating new income streams for local households.

Bongani Twala, General Manager of Alfa Laval South and East Africa, stated that the project demonstrates how world-class technology can enable local entrepreneurship and community development.
