ECOWAS pledges $250,000 to aid Ghana flood victims
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has approved a US$250,000 (about GH¢3 million) donation to support victims of recent devastating floods in Ghana. Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will transfer the full amount to the affected communities once the funds are received, stressing transparency and gratitude for the regional bloc’s solidarity.
The donation is intended to bolster ongoing relief and recovery operations coordinated by the National Disaster Management Organisation and other state agencies, which are addressing displacement, damage to homes, businesses and public infrastructure caused by the floods.
